It‘s important for high school students to study compulsory subjects (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

The question of whether students who are about to leave school should study compulsory subjects will always be controversial. Although many people think that it is useful for them, others claim that students in high school can choose subjects on their own.

In my opinion, such pupils are old enough to decide what subjects they are going to learn. Firstly, most of them have already chosen their future career path by the first year in high school. So, they should learn what they need but not what is obligatory. Secondly, students regularly spend too much time doing useless homework. Instead of it, they could find a job to practice skills that are needed for their future career. Moreover, high school students are usually under stress because of their studies.

So, it would be great if they could choose subjects by themselves.

However, not all people are ready to share my point of view. They claim that every well-educated person has to study compulsory subjects. They argue that such lessons make students smarter because they become open-minded. Additionally, no wonder these subjects are mandatory. It means that everyone should know at least something about them.

I cannot fully agree with the statement above. Students in high school have been learning these subjects for a couple of years. It means that they already know a lot by the end of school. Moreover, if they are not interested in compulsory subjects, they will forget everything about them as soon as they leave school.

To sum up, I believe that high school students are responsible enough to decide if they want to learn some subjects or not.
