Jobs and careers. Монолог на английском языке (Сочинение на свободную тему)

To start with, having an occupation is a vital thing in today’s society. For many people, it is a sign of sustainability and a way to fit in among the others. Therefore, a lot may be said considering this matter.

First of all, there are various reasons why people work. It may be, as I said, because one just wants to be an employee or employer, like everyone else. The unemployed are often looked down upon by others. Or people may not want, but need to work in order to provide for themselves and their families as it is known that money is the one and only catalyst for everything.

For others, working is a means to achieve satisfaction from completing tasks and clinching important deals. And finally there are people who occupy a certain position as it is their vocation. You would hear them say that their job is rewarding and grateful and they may seem confident in their own abilities and unlikely to quit, but unfortunately it is not always the case – consider medical practitioners and teachers. As for the most people like myself, the reason for job-hunting is the combination of above mentioned points.

However, working does not always imply building a career. A job and a career are not interchangeable terms. For some people paving a way to success is an integral part of having a job. They wish their qualities are constantly recognized, they must work to the best of their abilities even when facing a challenge in order to be promoted. They are greatly disappointed when there is no chance for advancement. Unfortunately, some of them may even try to score points by being critical of somebody else. Even though most of them may be viewed as hard-working people worthy of great respect, I see them as miserable workaholics married to their jobs.

ut one does not have to follow their example – just be a reliable, punctual and accurate worker, and you should be acknowledged by your superior. Maybe not by being promoted, but by getting an increase in pay or other perks.

It must be mentioned that in order to live this life of a worker you must get a job.

ut before you must apply for a position.

ut even before that you must decide what kind job you want to have. It is a tough choice everyone is to make in their life. If you have not decided what position to fill, consult with your family or friends or a special agency. There are non-funded counselors such as in schools and commercial agents. My advice is to not focus on one profession at once, be a life-time learner, make contacts and master the necessary or basic skills. All this will shape your future. Find out about different working styles – there are skilled and non-skilled, part-time and full-time occupations.

emember, people manage to make a living out of the most ridiculous trades, and it is never late to pursue your hobby and find the job of your dream.

One more relevant topic to be discussed is the interview. The importance of the interview is behind description. It is the situation in which you make the very first impression on your prospective employer (or on the personnel manager – it depends on who is interviewing you). In the beginning, consider making an appointment in advance – it is simple courtesy in some countries. Some rather respected firms have a very tight schedule of interviewing the applicants, so try not to break the appointment if you really want to work for them. If you do not manage to make it to the interview on time, make a call to the receptionist and cancel the appointment. Some documents must be brought with you to the interview. They are listed in the advertisement, but typically they are your passport, your CV or resume and your social security card. However, thanks to technologies of our time, you may just e-mail these to the company with the cover letter. You will have to provide your personal information, your job objective, your education and qualification (mention if you have graduated with honours or have attended some courses) and previous places of work – list them in reverse chronological order.

e confident when being interviewed since some employers like to slip in some tricky questions. You might as well tell them about your hobbies, but do not mention reading and writing as it is believed educated people do those often. If your qualifications meet the company’s expectations, you’ll get the position and they will tell you right away.

It is thought that the most common debate considering jobs is whether the part-time or the full-time job is better. A part-time job may sound more preferable as it seems you have a lot of free time, the work process is more exciting due to its inconsistence and it is a way out for students in need and young mothers. However, the noticeable disadvantage of such a schedule is that it is not quite regulated in

ussia and often these in authority abuse their power. It is believed you will have to work long hours doing odd jobs without fringe benefits, your wage might be delayed and you can be made redundant at any moment! Even if these believes are false, it is still a fact that working a part-time job means your pay is lower than average. A full-time job appeals to graduates who are used to studying 9 to 5, 5 days a week. Usually occupations which are believed to be more prestige and high-salaried such as a career in medicine, teaching or office work tend to be full-time. Such a job is more likely to offer you a pension scheme. However, you must be an experienced or/and a qualified worker to occupy such a position. A full-time occupation may be tiring not only due to the length of the shifts, but especially if you have to commute from afar or if you struggle with your mental health. Keeping these pros and cons in mind, I have changed my point of view from one I had in my Dream Job monologue and now I find working few hours a day more appealing.

One more point to pay attention to is working from home and its ups and downs. Working from home is especially common during the pandemic. It has a lot of advantages to it. First of all, it means saving money on rent, on commuting, on electricity which is great for both the employer and the employee. Secondly, you are able to switch quickly between working and doing household chores. This flexibility allows spending more time with your family, which is good for people who have children. Of course, there are disadvantages as well – they are the lack of real-life communication between coworkers and constant tension due to frequent calls and emails from work. As for me, I really do not want to work in such conditions. I can’t afford my bedroom to be the same place as my workspace unless I have a separate room as a study.

It is not uncommon for people to become out of work. One may be fired if they dismiss the rules within the firm they are working for or break the law of the state. One may be made redundant due to economic difficulties. One may retire due to old age or resign even before that. People that are out of work get their unemployment benefit and constantly go through Situations Vacant section of newspapers and websites.

Throughout my speech, I have made points about the job of my dream. If I were to add something, I would simply say that I have no exact idea what position I’d like to occupy, but it is important for me that a job does not affect my personal life greatly (I mean no dress-code and no night shifts) and it would be amazing if I were given space to get valuable experience and training and acquire new skills. I want to explore new ways of using knowledge. I hope to try various working fields and to finally find the one I would not like to retire or resign from.
