Technology - is it a good or a bad thing? (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Technology surrounds us everywhere. Nowadays nothing can be done without it. Still many people think of it as a harmful and a terrible thing. Than who is right? As for me, technology means progress. It helps us in everyday life, doctors, engineers.

Firstly, communication. Two hundred years ago people had to wait for weeks to receive a message. Nowadays people from different parts of the world send each other messages that cross thousands of miles in the blink of an eye. Telephones now are not just devices that are used to call people. Modern smartphones consist of phone, radio, music player, calculator and a number of other features. Surely, people sometimes spend too much time surfing the net but it is really better to have no contact rather than this.

Secondly, travelling.

Modern airplanes, trains, cars allow people to travel through the world. Today it takes 17 hours to cross Atlantic ocean. Century ago it would tale couple months. We shouldn't forget about comfort. In modern time technology of creating fabrics and soft cotton have made a quantum leap.

Thirdly, homes. Modern smart houses are pure miracle. They stable comfortable temperature, turn on and off the lights whet it is necessary, order food and simply make life easier. It also adds security into our lives. Such houses send notification to the owners every time the door is opened or closed. It is so comfortable and useful to own one.

In a nutshell, I suppose that technology is a useful and up-to-date thing that helps humanity and brings more good that harm.
