There are different points of view on how people should choose their future profession. Some individuals claim that the youth should follow their parents into a career path, others, however, have a different opinion.
Personally, I think that the young should not follow their parents into a career choice. Firstly, not all parents have prestigious well-paid jobs and there is no point in choosing the same profession in such a case. Secondly, if young people want to have a promising job, it is not a good idea to make a a decision on a profession which was chosen by one of their parent because many jobs which were in demand years ago now are not. That is why the young choosing a career should take into account labour market demands not their parent’s choice.
However, there are people who believe that young people should follow in their parents’s footsteps when choosing a career.
They say that it is an important family tradition to choose the same profession as your parent does. For example, if your dad was a doctor, you ought to be a doctor too.
In my opinion, the youth should decide on a future career on their own without taking into consideration their parent’s experience. It is a stereotype that children have to follow in their parent’s footsteps when choosing a profession, many years ago this belief was popular, but nowadays youngsters tend to choose their career path by themselves and it is not regarded as something abnormal.
In conclusion, despite different opinions, I still believe that young people should not follow their parents into a career path.
