Exams are an essential part of an educational system. They help to assess students’ knowledge and affect their future. There are two opposing views on exams. Some people believe that they are an equitable means of measuring academic achievements while others find this way of testing students unfairly.

In my opinion, exams are the best way to assess individual knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge. Firstly, all students have the same tasks and they are given the same conditions during the exams. Secondly, exams are held under strict control and students do not have many chances to cheat. They are not allowed to use any sources of information. The students’ works are checked by more than one examiner who does not know who’s work they check.

However, some people consider that exams are an unjust means of evaluation.

In their point of view, students cannot fully show their knowledge because of stress and anxiety. They perform under pressure, which leads to poorer results.

I do not agree with the above-mentioned opinion. I think it is possible to get rid of stress and anxiety by teaching students how to control their emotions or by taking special peals.

To draw a conclusion, exams are a fair way of measuring students’ knowledge. They show students their academic achievements and encourage them to study better. It is also a good experience to take exams.
