Space exploration was the greatest achievement of the 20th century / эссе о важности исследования космоса (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

The issue of exploring space has always aroused heated debates. Someone claims that the beginning of it was the most significant achievement of the last century while others disagree. I would like to express my point of view on this issue.

 I believe that breakthrough in space exploration is the greatest development in science of the 20th century. Firstly, it gives humanity the opportunity to colonize new planets. In fact, soon there will be the lack of resources and free space on earth, but we can solve this problem be using other planets. Secondly, we can use our knowledge of space to protect the Earth. For example, people can try to avoid collisions with asteroids by tracking their trajectory through satellites. 

 However, someone claims that space exploration was not the greatest achievement of the 20th century.

In their opinion, there were more useful discoveries such as mobile phones, computers and internet connection.

 Personally, I do not agree with the above opinion. I am convinced that there is a direct link between the development of space research programmes and different earth technologies. A considerable number of various gadgets were originally developed for space programs, but now they are being used on earth.

 In conclusion, I believe that that space research was the biggest attaintment in science of the last century. Moreover, universe exploration inspires humanity to new achievements.
