It is hard to deny that marriage is an inalienable part of our life. Elaborating on this topic, some people are firmly convinced that arranged marriages are obsolete, whereas others hold the opposite opinion. In this essay I am going to make an attempt to look upon this issue.

In my opinion, arranged marriages are just the relics of the past. There are several reasons for that. Firstly, nowadays one’s welfare does not depend on inheritance or social status. This means that if one marries a poor person it does not mean that they are going to live in poverty since anyone can earn money in modern society.

Secondly, the majority of marriages in the twenty first century are based on love but not on economic relations.

However, there are still a few people who are of the thought that arranged marriages are a very good tradition. They claim that people from the same sector of population are more likely to get along perfectly.

Personally, I appreciate the other opinion, though I cannot agree with it. I am convinced that the main base for union is love and economic relations cannot influence it.

In conclusion, I would like to say that there are still two points of view on this issue. I respect the opposing opinion, though I strongly believe that arranged marriages are relics of the past.
