Reading a lot in summer (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

It is wrong to make pupils read a lot in summer.

Nowadays there are a lot of pupils who are not interested in reading books. So, a lot of teachers force their pupils to read them more while they have a free time. Some people think that it is a good method while others believe that it is not so. Who is right? Let us discuss it.

I strongly believe that reading during the summer has many advantages. First of all, it helps you to prepare for the next school year. Secondly, children can easily improve their reading skills without destracting from the focus of studying. Thirdly, it means that teachers do not have to waste time on reteaching materials in the autumn. Thus, reading during the summer is a unique opportunity to enhance and grow stronger reading skills.

However, other people may think differently.

They mention that pupils should relax their mind on their holidays. Also, they think that pupils are too young for reading a lot of books in such a list. Therefore, these books can be cute boring for children at all.

Undoubtedly, I do not agree that it is always more pleasant to spend free time with friends or just lying on a sofa for some pupils. Yet, I insist on summer reading because without the stimulation learning activities, children will regress. Another point is that the list includes a lot of books and you can read only a part which you are interested in. That is why summer reading is a good way to spend an extra free time.

All in all, I would like to state again I reckon that teachers should make pupils read a lot in summer.
