During the summer holidays, I rested with my grandmother in the village. One day at the very end of August she asked me to help her in harvesting in the garden. I easily agreed. My grandmother asked me: "Will not you get tired?" I looked at her with surprise: "No, of course!" I grinned in my heart: is it really so hard to pull out a carrot and dig up potatoes?

Half an hour later I realized how wrong I was when I thought that harvesting vegetables was not a difficult and fun activity! Even on the way to the garden I was strongly bitten by a horsefly, and during work on the beds the flies and gadflies bothered me. After a few minutes of work in the sun, the back and arms began to ache a bit, and the perspiring sweat poured down his cheeks.

Of course, it was nice to look at the harvest at the end of the day: the early potatoes, carrots, beets, cucumbers - but the memories of difficulties during harvesting forced to think with respect for the labor of farmers.

I now began to understand how many labors worth the fruits that we are eating!
