There is a popular opinion that people should know information about the history of a certain place before travelling. At the same time, some individuals claim that it is not necessary. Now I want to express my point of view on this issue.

I strongly believe that a person should read about historical sites in advance. First of all, it will help tourists to understand the main aspects of a famous place and speech of a guide better because there is some information in person’s mind. Secondly, it is more interesting to explore a new sight knowing facts about past of visiting place. Thirdly, in this way people get an opportunity to point out guide’s possible mistakes that help them to stand out of crowd.

However, my opponents think that tourists should not read about sights he or she is going to visit. In their view, it is waste of time because a tour guide will tell everything about a certain place. Moreover, it can be boring for a person to go sightseeing if one already knows all facts of a place.

Personally, I do not agree with the above-mentioned opinion. I am convinced that learning the history of sights by yourself is a good way to broaden knowledge and improve memory. I am sure that if a person is interested in visiting sights he or she gets pleasure from reading information about these places.

In conclusion, I would like to stress that everyone should know about historical sites in advance because a person will understand an importance of a certain place and learn new things.
